Capitol Records v. Jammie Thomas

In a world where there’s no Nobel Prize for attempted physics, but you can go to jail for attempted murder, there’s a new law on the books: You can’t go to jail for attempted copyright infringement.

A Minnesota judge today ruled that the mere act of making an audio or video file available for file sharing does not constitute copyright infringement.

A new trial is to be set, however.
