Videogame Economy

Ever since I read Edward Castronova’s book “Synthetic Worlds,” I’ve been enamored by the idea of in-game economics.

I play Final Fantasy XI and I can see how the economy works in that game rather well. Thanks to different websites, I can keep track of how the economy is on other servers. So far, most of the servers have almost identical economies, though there are a few outliers.

Anyway, on Business Week, they have a podcast with EVE Online’s in-house economist talking about how he tweaks the in-game economy on that game.
