Tetsuya Komuro Arrested

Tetsuya Komuro, producer of popular Japanese music groups such as Globe and Namie Amuro was arrested earlier for failure to pay damages to a private investor.

In 2006, Mr. Komuro sought to sell his copyrights to over 800 songs for a billion yen ($10 million USD). The investor paid Mr. Komuro half of the amount before it was discovered Komuro did not own the copyrights at all.

A court demanded he pay the investor 600 million yen. When he failed to pay the amount by the appointed date, he was arrested.
