Chinese Democracy is Real

The person who uploaded nine songs from the forthcoming Guns ‘n Roses album, Chinese Democracy, last year, will receive probation as his sentence for this crime.

One thing I don’t get, is that the people who upload every other album a month in advance don’t get punished, but because this guy uploaded it a year in advance and gets the proverbial book thrown at him.

As far as punishment goes, probation is a step up from a slap on the wrist. Is it a difference in the time frames of release that causes this guy to be punished while the others go free?

Wired’s article on it.
