Taiwan: IP laws have an effect

Last week, the United States removed Taiwan from its list of countries that fail to protect international intellectual property rights.

Taiwan has long been a haven for pirates and others who copy the IP of other countries for sale in other countries.

To mind, the most prevalent version of this is copying DVDs and music CDs (though I’m sure they did computer programs as well).

The fact that Taiwan is no longer on the list tells me that the government of Taiwan has been cracking down on such practices.
