Hummer Sold

This almost slipped by me.

Everyone knows that Monday General Motors became a Public company in that the US government now owns 60% of the company. GM also plans to be out of Chapter 11 within 60-90 days.

One of the first things GM did, other than decide to close a few production facilities, was to sell their Hummer division to Chinese company Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company.

GM plans to close or sell Saturn, Saab, and Pontiac over the next year. The Pontiac news makes me sad as I’ve always been a fan of Pontiac.

AM General, the company that used to own the Hummer brand before GM bought it in 1999, is the same company that made the Dispatcher Jeeps commonly used by the Postal Service.
