English to Nonspeakers

The other day a friend down the street asked “What does English sound like to people who don’t know it?” This reminded me of an Italian song from 1972 that I had read about on BoingBoing a year or so ago that was exactly that: A song sang in what people who don’t speak English think English sounds like.

This version has added friendly subtitles that help make sense of what it sounds like they’re saying.

  1. Even though the song is a bunch of gibberish, I think it is rather interesting to say the least. Though… it at least does have a really nice beat to it.
