Night of the Living Trekkies

I saw this trailer (a trailer… for a book!?) a few weeks ago and decided that I MUST read this book. And so I did.

My first thought upon reading the book was that virtually none of the scenes in the trailer are in the book. No one screams “Gulf CON!” at the top of their lungs, the red shirt doesn’t get grabbed from behind by a bunch of zombies, no one tells anyone else that their costume looks crappy. Heck, there’s a severe lack of Borg in the book (except for a group of faceless/nameless Borg zombies).

Even without the trailer though, this was a fantastically fun read. The story makes sense and flows rather well. I think it warrants a sequel… at a Star Wars convention.

I think everyone at one time or another has imagined “What would happen if a zombie outbreak happened here at this _____?”

Irreference is the same company behind Pride & Prejudice & Zombies (review for that one is elsewhere on this site). I think this group has found their niche in creating offbeat zombie stories.
